You've got questions? We've got answers!
Here are some answers to common questions people ask most often about Stone Creek.

Will I benefit from this type of therapy if I am afraid of horses?
Absolutely! Working with professionals in this supportive environment, your fear may prove to be especially effective in breaking through old patterns and revealing important insights. No prior knowledge of horses or horsemanship is necessary.

Do you accept insurance?
The mental health professionals we partner with accept insurance. However, insurance does not cover the ranch or coaching. We are a registered 501c3 charitable organization and do offer scholarship applications to help those who need financial assistance.

Do you operate year round? What happens in bad weather?
The ranch has an indoor facility which enables them to be out of the elements and work year round. The arena is not heated but is very comfortable when dressed appropriately. They have a heated conference room where people can go to process in the winter. In the case of severe weather, it may postponed or rescheduled.

What should I wear?
Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. Dressing in layers is always a good idea as the weather can change quickly. Closed-toed shoes or boots are required. No sandals or loose/dangling clothing or jewelry.

Why do you use horses?
Horses are uniquely attuned to their environment and to everyone in it. They are continually assessing leadership and communication skills in the people around them, and they respond honestly and without hesitation to that information. They are very social animals and can teach us worthwhile lessons about relationships. They are an invaluable resource in countless scenarios.

What kind of training does your staff have?
Stone Creek Reflections does not have staff. All of the work we help support is done through professional partnerships with experts in their field.
We partner with mental health professionals on therapy and our personal and professional development is lead by certified professional coaches. All of our teams contain a certified equine specialist according to the requirements of the certification. We have professionals certified through EAGALA, E3A, and currently in the process of becoming certified with Natural Lifemanship which is a trauma focused program.

What kind of client is appropriate for this kind of work?
We utilize two types of programs. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) which includes trauma focused work when needed, and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL). EAP is effective for people with mental health diagnoses and is great for  individuals, couples, and families. EAL is about developing life skills, and is utilized for schools and groups teaching leadership, strategic thinking, and overcoming obstacles. EAL is also used in all aspects of personal and professional development with individuals or teams.

What happens in a session?
Most session will take place on the ground. However, trauma focused work may include some rhythmic riding. After consulting with you, we will design you or your group’s session to specifically meet your needs.
